Main Tent Producer

A Main Tent Producer executes the main tent production elements from end to end. Their job is to keep the show flow, content, technical delivery, and audience experience aligned so the main stage feels smooth and intentional from opening cue to final close. 
This role is especially valuable in programs where the main tent is the heart of the event and where multiple people and moving parts need to be held together by one senior production lead. 

This role becomes important when a program is large, complex, or has too many rooms and functions for one Attendee Care Producer to oversee alone. In those situations, the Main Tent Producer provides the extra capacity and senior oversight needed to manage the main stage with confidence. 
For a client, that means the most visible part of the program is being led by someone who can protect both the creative vision and the operational detail.

The Main Tent Producer is responsible for the design, planning, and execution of the main tent experience. They manage the production lifecycle, budget, client communication, and production team coordination while also remaining accountable for the outcome of the work, even when other specialists are delivering specific pieces of it. 
That accountability matters because the main stage is often the most visible and high-pressure part of the event. The Main Tent Producer ensures it is handled with structure, leadership, and care.

The Main Tent Producer oversees stage management, budget management, AV and technical planning, creative and content production, speaker support, talent management, audience engagement, onsite scheduling, rehearsal coordination, risk mitigation, communication matrix development, and audio production. 
They also help build the show flow, coordinate presenters and talent, manage scripts and visual content, and ensure all production teams stay aligned. In practice, they are helping the audience experience feel seamless even when the production behind it is highly complex.

The Main Tent Producer is accountable to the Executive Producer or Program Manager and often works closely with Technical Directors, Stage Managers, AV partners, Coordinators, Specialist Producers, and Designers. 
Because this role spans both creative and technical delivery, communication is critical. The Main Tent Producer helps ensure everyone inside and outside the main tent stays connected, informed, and ready to deliver on time.

A strong Main Tent Producer understands AV, lighting, sound, set and stage design, budgeting, leadership, stage management, and client communication. They should be able to think visually, manage production details, and make decisions quickly when timing or conditions change. 
They also need to be confident enough to guide teams through a live environment while staying calm, organized, and focused on the audience experience.

The role typically requires at least 5 years of production experience, though more may be valuable depending on the complexity of the program. Experience in theatre, broadcast, concert production, or other live event formats can be especially helpful because these environments build strong show-flow and stage-management instincts. 
The strongest Main Tent Producers are usually people who can combine technical understanding with the ability to hold a live room together in real time.
